prove it to whom? i just said that it was your boat, and you are standing right by it. you get an F in hypothetical situations.

There is no point on trying to add a gameplay change to identify who are the "bad guys". I don't get why people insist so much on it.

Prove it to the game. It's the same thing you say to noobs when someone takes stuff from their unclaimed house; it's not yours if it's not claimed. The same applies to a boat left in the woods, if you're not in it, it's not yours. The moment you step out of it you take the risk that someone can come and take it... otherwise leave it in a claimed area.

that's exactly my point. the game can't make the distinction. but YOU know that it is YOUR boat and YOU are standing right by it. and if the guy takes it and puts it on his claim, it's now a crime for you to take your boat back. and if there was some bullshit mechanic that people who kill people with scents don't leave scents themself, then you would have no recourse against the guy who killed you for taking YOUR boat from his claim.

Well I was not really interested into the introduction of new arrangements to the justice system.

My half-baked point of view on this is that adding LPs with the simple 1% calculus for a murder tends to make everyone but the top of the ladder overly cautious, which is bad in a MMO. I learnt the hard way that when you meet anyone, you better teleport to your heartfire even before saying hello. And if strangers are coming near your home, then log out. This is because anyone meeting someone weaker than him in a remote place has no reason to spare him. While in some situations, like having powerful groups living near you, you may avoid to kill people, there is no reason for the local power not to, and the potential victim can't know who he's meeting.

I find quite sad that you need to put yourself at risk simply to say hello to any rational player running near you. Furthermore, it's quite disapointing that people are incited to stay in their brickwalled areas without moving out.

On the other hand, it is true that people moving against strong opponents with a risk should be rewarded. But I don't have the feeling that LP for a kill does that.

Killing someone powerful results usualy in decent amount of loot (merc robe, weapons, armors, and possibly keys that give access to more loot).

Having LP on top of that does not make any sense and only promotes minldess murder.

Nobody powerful does.

Adding lp gain for killing chars was one of the best features ever added to the game. Can't believe people find reasons to fight about everything no matter how good it is.
