Was his reasoning against it something technical or a gameplay issue? If it was the "winter killing off newbies" scenario, all you need is for seasons to differently affect easily identifiable regions

I think he was more protesting the demands it'd put on the graphical resources and/or implementation time in terms of fall and winter variants and whatnot.

 when loftar first told us on chat about the talk he had with you, jorb, on implementing seasons, he didnt sound like he was against it, rather he was very excited, happy, and proud about it. although he did warn us that implementation would take longer than we would expect.
im assuming it is only due to the priority order, and time you can spend on versus our patience(= time we can wait).
...or your favorite line, jorb, "loftar hates you!"

Full blown seasons is weird because it severely effects gameplay based on the current "time". Want to grow some crops? Oops sorry you've gotta wait a month. Want to hunt that yeti so you can make that rare cape? Sorry, try again in 3 months.

Regional climates is a much better solution to add diversity in the game world I think.

Also makes exploration more interesting and territory more important. Mapgen is pretty bland at the moment.

I hope we get a consult then on which curios to nerf and such, because shewbread is definitely not the problem.

Also on sieges. We have mentioned before and I want to reiterate it here that it should not be possible to destroy months of work in an hour of hacking things apart. While the sieging itself is far too difficult right now it is also far too easy to wreck someones base once you are in. Avu once suggested that rams should be necessary on every built object. While that might be a bit extreme it goes in the right direction. Right now hundreds of cheeseracks and cupboards and worse cows are destroyed in seconds.

Also also ressource nodes. Far too easy to grief, far too hard to defend, far too tedious to discover (far too few existing in general?). In particular obviously river clay. I have shown you the picture how we defended it with crossroads I think and that is the only way and took 13 hours straight work of 5 or 6 people. On a related note I have thought of remodeling ressource spots in a way that a hotspot only determines that you will get for example clay from it, but the actual quality is randomized on let's say a daily base. This way every spot owner gets the chance to good ressources sooner or later. But that might be something for a seperate topic.

Implement, sure. Create?... well :)

pretty much all goes back to what jorb was saying about shell defense. once your shell is penetrated, you are completely fucked.

I guess it should work out decently then if this whole tower defense idea is implemented properly and I sure hope then big towns and teamwork finally get the upper hand.

This game is going to be so fucking good when all the stuff in this thread gets put in!
Keep up the good work JLo, we know you can do it!
