???

So exit the game. Teleportation has nothing to do with that.

think he means you can warp home log out in a house and you're sort of safe, while if you can't warp home you just have to log out where you are and that 10 seconds(or was that reduced to 5 also?) is enough to get you killed...

You would wait anyways with the teleportation delay. It's irrelevant.

"mounts and/or marching bonuses."

Lets please to be removing Star Trek beaming technology and replacing with horses and Wyrd.......

You forgot the login part.
It is not about those few seconds. Btw how much is it depends on how the client exists and sometimes is much more than just 5 seconds.
HF is usually at safe area. When you login the toon first appears ingame and then you can see it on your screen, so the owner is the last one to see what happens. If you login back where you quit, you may land straigh on a ninja boar.

I kinda agree with this guy... I was chilling just started finding flotsoms and I put all my points into exploration so i can see them... I got 10 and decided to take a little stop at home. I start to teleport home and a guy with nothing on comes out of nowhere and uses rage to aggro me.. I'm just like..... Fuck.... cause i forgot my flask and water bucket and he was hitting me 10s until i got knocked out... then he murdered me... I had no skills to defend myself... sad.... If i had one fighting skill.... I woulda just been able to kill him... I was fully armored too...

Your story makes no sense, finding flotsams but no boat? Why not boat away?

OP is actually one of the more accomplished players of this game, he just kept a low profile :P

@Zarxes: In general I like the idea to support the carebears a little better. I just see a problem of alt abuse with any skill that is only available to like new toons, toons without black arts skills etc.

Stuff like stealing boats, bear corpses and such with alts without the person you are stealing from being able to retaliate is just one problem I can come up with off the top of my head.

Due to auto aggro clients this doesn't solve the perceived problem necessarily. Furthermore it goes against the design goals that Jorb laid out in the sense that permadeath is supposed to carry risk as a core gameplay mechanic.

Now if you want to make a solution to this problem, why not take a look at the belief system. The change/tradition slider is the entire cause of this issue. The people who need the least protection (dedicated warriors) are given the option of going tradition and taking the lowest penalty for death in the game. Crafters generally need the LP from change at all times and therefore are stuck with the highest penalty for death in the game.

I think addressing the issue isn't a bad idea, but I feel an overhaul and rework of how traditions work in order to lessen the impact of death on the more vulnerable players would better suit the task

It's something I've been thinking of proposing but eh. There's always millions of suggestions and I'm sure it's already been mentioned.
