Not sure if the post is a bad attempt at "trolling" but this idea is fucking horrible.
It's exactly as Nini said, there's other shitty ways to help noobs get into combat such as putting a cap on stats, or lowering the impact stats have on combat to a minimum like before w7.
This idea is just BAD.

If your character eats too much cheese he can have heart attack. And if he doesnt he gets so fat he can only crawle. Would solve 800 str / day grinding.

I got something to add. If you eat too much cheese you have a chance to get dierrea, forcing your character to spend 3 hours on the toilet shitting out cheese.
Early world exploit: Put your hearthfire inside a cave, then hold shift to position a claim right in front of a cave. After 8 hours the claim will be unbreakable. Since your hearthfire is inside the cave, you can still get back inside, and leave, but nobody will be able to enter, effectively making you unraidable for the first 3-7 days. Enjoy

Random deaths would create just a negative experience when your character just died. People would stop grinding stats while elite fighters would do pump stats just to go on extreme savage raids. The gap between PvPers would be extreme and in the end serve nothing but reduce the player count.

"Random death" seems to me a overstatement of what was suggested.
It seems to me that the random aspect is only suggested to apply to a [minimum..maximum] hearthlings live span. A general lifespan duration that in this tread has not even been touched! Could be anything from a week to 10 years for all I know.
perhaps a semi-random "max-age" stat is attached to each hearthling at "birth", hidden from the owner, for maximum tears?)

Its also stated that "Attributes slowly increase, before they begin to decline in old age". So its not like your hearthling at some point just suddenly keels over without a warning your running out of time.
( *nom nom* ... ...WTF ... My character just dropped dead !!!.)

PS: My character recently randomly died. So to me that means that that random death case is already included in the game. And we all have seen plenty of HnH newbies run away after there unexpected and to them untimely demise.

People would stop grinding: I don't see why.
Don't mind seeing practical game examples that include PvP, grinding and old age. ... If there are any.

---

The biggest hurtle to me here seems the fact that players just don't like it when there is a final (time or otherwise) limit put on there character(s)*.
*) As in: New character in a new world.

Aye - Even if there wasn't a hard and fast "age" ticker in your character sheet (which there very well could be with the system), you should still be able to get a good sense of how old you are by the degradation of the stats.

As to how long this lifespan may be: I would suggest 1 month and 1 week as a minimum, with 2 months as the maximum. The actual age of death would be variable between these two marks for each characters, perhaps with an average being 1 month and 2 weeks.

Obviously that is just a arbitrary suggestion by me. Anyone can have their own opinion as to how long a character should live, and it will have a heavy effect on how "powerful" the strongest hearthlings will be, and how high their eventual crafting softcap may be. It will likely require some balancing.

As far as other games that have old age and death... I do not know of any.

But then, I don't know of any other game that has progression like Haven either.

Infinite quality spiraling is a pretty major mechanic, not something to be neutered

Also when the char gets fat from over eating the gear would stop fitting. You would need to recraft all the clothes.
This add some much possibilities... New skills:
Medical Treatment - for a price of 5 butter you could remove stuck rings from those obese fingers. The higher the quality the better chance of removal without fracturing the finger. Which in itself adds additional skill possibilities.
Dieting - eating just beetroot leaves fro two RL months to get slim again.
...

Also it would be awesome if chars could grow a belly when the attributes get too high or perhaps after consuming too much beer. or.. whatever... bellies definitely should be a thing!
