There is a distinguishable difference between making complaints/demands and making suggestions. Obviously I do not need to explain... I wasn't really directing this at anyone in particular. I was simply trying to convey the idea that people should be more grateful towards the creators of this game and less demanding of them. After all, they allow everyone to play the game for free.

I understand what you are saying and I don't feel in any way personally persecuted by your outlandish ideas that we be more reasonable human beings.

That's not the point though. Why should we be reasonable is the point. WHAT IS IN IT FOR US?

Then clearly there is no need for demanding pushy assholes to be a bit nicer to everyone they are communicating with as it will not help them get what they want any faster.

For the record I'm playing devils advocate here. There are several very good reasons for people to generally calm down and be nicer to one another, but unless you can figure out what they are and how to communicate those ideas to the assholes you're just waving a red flag in front of a bull

Are you a philosophy major? I say such only in the speculation, which I gained through empirical observation, of the manner in which previous events manifested. Your stating your argumentative position as fixated opposition is by all means the inevitable actualization of your impeccable logic and intellectual strategy. As you are truly Descartes' demon in the representation of a human being. You are the sole entity who has attained the astute wisdom of intellectual confrontations. You are the supreme "chess-player" of the mind, as you have already effortlessly predicted all possible outcomes of all possible events. For such a lesser, and incompetent fool, such as I, there is no argument which I could produce that would miraculously debunk your impervious argument. Honestly, why is such a deity as yourself so concerned with the intellectual debacles that lesser beings, such as myself, espouse on a daily basis? Oh Bellepheron, such hubris as that which you brilliantly brandish is simply confidence in the objective perspective of those who comprehend the truth--and the opposite in the eyes of those who are intellectually challenged.

Judging from what little I read of your post, you don't actually intend on anyone reading it.

I can't say I know for sure, of course, but I'd guess that we lose a lot of potential players because of the state of the early game and, in particular, the state of the RoB. Everytime I think about it, it strikes me as a wonder that Haven has players at all...

We'll be trying to start addressing that in a hopefully rather near future.

Because for every 10 that join, 1 of them wanders around long enough that they find a plow. They right-click it and push it along and think "this is fun" and watch the +5 before they get tired. Then stand still waiting for Stamina to come back. They try again only to have the plow break but thankfully, they have enough LP to buy fishing. They're starving by now because they've been working for more than 5 minutes and they've already nomnomnomed all the bread, so they look for a map, find one and head to the lake.

They manage to find a place and start fishing with the pole they started off with (a stupid useless poll now I might add, given it's not equipped). Eventually they fish long enough to buy pottery (A suggestion they found in the help guide on the wiki). After a while, they want to explore more because even the lake is crowded so they head out. After getting lost amongst an epic maze of wooden walls, they find a river. And a boat that doesn't complain about being on "Land claimed by Some Nobjob".

They take it and boat up river. They boat quite a while until they find a nice spot they think is secluded (but actually has neighbours all around, they just think it's secluded in comparison to RoB) and they get out. They decide to keep digging clay and want to actually make some things. They build a kiln on the mudlfat because they can't figure out why they can't build it on the grass, because they are yet to discover plowing, stone chipping and paving.

They fire some shit up at night-time, and continue by the pleasant light of the kiln.

They eventually decide to build a house, so they figure out stone axes and head off. They manage to catch a bunny to make the saw along the way. After their house is built, they post on a forum. They make threads titled:
  • DO NOT BUY SWIMMING, YOU WILL DIE
  • GAME UPDATE. WTF FISHING POLE IS USELESS NOW?
  • Tips and Tricks
  • ZOMG get the extended client
  • Collected resources and frequently asked questions
They get their friends to join and they start building walls.

More of their friends see and want to join in the fun. They build boats to pick them up from RoB and ferry them to their village site. It is a long and arduous journey of about 30 mins that involves some co-ordination but thanks to some fearless ferry men (and some people who decided to walk all the way themselves), they are able to start building a village (After some issues with how to get Bear Teeth).

The rest is history.
