The difference being that you could actually discuss the idea and suggest improvements instead of dismissing it out of hand with some muttered statement about coins.

After rereading, I see that it's nothing like point-based stands. All of my points against unstealable virtual money still stand. Your counterargument regarding availability of metal is obsolete, though :P

And I don't really see any aggression in those posts of mine, I apologize if it came out that way.

The entire idea was an ingame attempt to mimic the system used in trade threads. You can't steal those points either.

And this sounds like your personal preference?

Unstealable please. Pretty fucking pointless and people will use forums instead if these points are theftable.

Yes, it boils down to personal preference. I don't like owing people money, neither in the game nor IRL. In forum trade, I can simply choose not to keep tabs of who's got how many points and just tell people to take something for the change if their goods are worth a bit more than what you're buying. In stands as proposed by you I don't have that choice, I simply have to have accounts for my customers. That's all fine and dandy until my stand gets robbed. Then I'm under pressure to refill it ASAP to avoid angering my customers, and odds are it'll get robbed again if I don't kill the thief right away. The other option, to not refill at all and let my customers take the fall is simply unthinkable for any honest merchant. Now, if I on the other hand give them coins as change I am under no obligation to restock, the people will still have tangible goods (ie metal) so I won't owe them anything.

Barter stands should remain item for item trading. If you want a point based stand it should be a new one.

With that said barter stands ofc need much improvement.

You always have the option of continuing to rely on forum trades. Favors were meant to be an ingame alternative.

All trading should be done with the same interface. There's absolutely zero reason to separate stands based on coin/barter/point/etc.

Thing is, I prefer in-game trading. Right now I can run a shop without the debt problem, but this would take it away from me.

*rubs temples*

Exactly how would this take anything away from you?

Feel free to continue not using it if you dont like owing people favors.

People wouldn't take change, instead they might accumulate it on their account to buy some item. And then the item gets stolen, and bam I owe them money.
