That or I'm using the universal "you" and just happened to sieze upon your name from the quote button... I'm not sure it matters which though.

testing a new system is better done with a number of players at a number of places along the power curve, not everyone at the bottom of it.

This is a good point. I'm fairly confident however that Loftar is capable of migrating data from the old system to whatever new one he devises... It might even be that "migrate" means 'delete all skills' and I'd be happy with that.

Map will be reset soon, characters... leaning towards never, but don't take that as a promise.

If characters are reset at some point it will be after the implementation of ancestral worship.

There is no point in resetting the map without a character reset.
Unless something is added that needs to be seeded into the map, all the problems of this map will come back in the next.
Not resetting characters will bring about the exact same point we're at on this map, just faster.
If the reset is due to people getting bored of the current map or towns then you're just going to end up in a loop of constant resets.

basically this, a map reset fixes nothing except rewarding people who already have all the skills by letting them get their towns set up faster, while newbies have to build up everything slowly

In a game of perma death, why is loss of character stats but not towns such a terrible thing? Towns stay over perma death while skills do not.

It's not.

They plan on having several improvements.
First of all, mines are going to have to be found now, they won't be summoned by the devs. Second, plants and trees that currently don't naturally spawn will now have spawns around the world. Thirdly, they want to implement more features to the map.

I am sorry but for how long have you played yet?
I don't want to act elitist or something, but people earn their advantage by playing he game. Most of us played to game much longer than the recent goon wave. We've been working toward to reset even. And now you argue that because we can die anyway we should just reset everyone?

If you think the map reset is just to "fix" the map you're only partly right. They reworked the map generator. New features will come with the reset.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

nah, they are right. It is just elitist of us to want to keep our LP.
I have a Modest Proposal that will solve the problem
We should do a total server reset everytime a newbie joins, just so that no one has an unfair advantage. Then, everyone will always be playing at about the same level, and new people will never have to worry about more experienced people being more...experienced.
