The only way to do this is hardcaps on all skills.

In this case 'improvement' will only be a matter of player skill, not stat numbers.

I hope this game never has hardcaps on anything..

Read this formula viewtopic.php?f=5&t=16274&start=20#p188458

By curving LP gain you deemphasize grinding. It still has an effect if you want to do it but it's no longer mandatory and no longer eclipses everything else you can improve in the game.

I really dislike that.

It's a good way to piss your hardcore playerbase.

Punishing your players for playing more? Good luck, that's retarded.

It's not punishment. You still get more LP for playing more.

That system still encourages botting and minldess grind. Screw it.

Because instead of attacking the problem of repetitive tasks you just put some ridiculous curve on the reward for doing so. What you're suggesting would only help level the playing field for everyone, casuals, dedicated no-lifers, stat grinders, and botters. Everyone. Which isn't a solution at all.

Right. So after a couple of hours of repetitive tasks (or whatever) there becomes better things to do with your time than grind.. like explore, hunt, make connections, spy on the enemy, whatever. Even better, if those tasks involve LP gain, you might already be past the point of the curve where you'd want to grind when you're done. And if you feel like grinding anyway you still get more total LP out of it.

The problem with the flat LP gain we have now is it's ALWAYS a choice between spend the hour getting 25,000 LP, or spend the hour doing something interesting for the village. If you're someone who wants to be the best at the game, you'll be stuck grinding LP until something crucial comes along. But if it's curved, then there's always a point where grinding is no longer worth it, even if you're someone who will do anything to get ahead.

So you don't have to choose between having fun with the game and being the best at it any more. They're part of the same package.

This.

Also your system still does not allow newcomers any way to catch up with experienced players.

Experienced players can be killed. Newcomers can play more than they do which gives more total LP. Advanced skills take more LP to increase so newcomers will flatten the curve even if both players have the same LP income.

Those, in fact, are the same options newer players have to catch up NOW. If you grind 5 hours a day my only option to catch up is to kill you or grind 6 hours. I don't see how my system introduces a problem...?

That's probably because you suggested it, people's minds tend to work that way.

Good luck with that.

Good luck with playing more than bot with autoreconnect.

Current LP system is fucked up, and those are not really reasonable options.
