Horses should be able to feed themselves in left on a pasture (enclosed, so they don't wander off). Horses shouldn't carry as much as boats, but they should still significantly improve your cargo capacity. Horses should obviously port with you if you're riding them, much like carried objects do. I suppose they could carry two characters if they're not carrying any cargo. As for boats allowing travel in Mordor, they only open up areas next to water. If inland areas were accessible, low combat character would have an actual chance of finding mines, all mines near water get claimed soon after a new grid is added.

And I understand the need for crossing water with carts and horses, but I don't think bridges are the right way to do it. Loftar has repeatedly said they'd be very hard to implement. Ferries can do the job just fine, and they bypass all the bridge problems.

animals cant go in boats currently - oh look, another thing to implement before horses

and then a horse couldnt carry boat of course

ps. explain why should inland Mordor be accessible to solo low combat characters

I agree that ferrying animals across water is needed. It'd be a bitch to get tame cows and sheep without it.

And I don't see why a horse shouldn't be able to drag a boat if you equip it with that two trunks A frame Indians used (is it a sleigh?).

Inland access in Mordor would allow newbies to build hidden villages to avoid crime. Villages near rivers get found quickly. It also allows them to get to inland mines.

Why not? Who doesn't want to put a boat on your horse on a boat on a horse on a boat on a horse on a borse on a hoat on a boat on a stoat on a goat on a horse on a Porsche on a force on a boat on a horse?

And how do newbies get a horse, and all the leather saddles and trimmings and bridles? I'm all for helping newbies, but rember: horses aren't cheap.
Surprise.

Because obviously everyone should make this game into his day job and grind up skills 8 hours a day.

How do newbies get a boat? Yeah, it will be unreachable for solo newbies, but any that have a village will have access to the village stables.

if you werent chomping at the bit for horses so eagerly you might have remembered that i am a proponent of rebalancing combat in favor of new players, removing animal levels and LP grind

That's in the really far future. Like at least 6 months away.

Oh come on, you can't say that the way their firm muscles move under their smooth and supple skin leaves you cold.
