They gave X LP per cycle, losing Y quality in the process. Once the q dropped to 0, they disappeared.

The best part of curiousities is they reward LP for tasks that previously gave little or none. Travel, trade, organization, etc.

Also I laugh every time someone suggests that you should directly gain skill points for related tasks. Not only does this leave some tasks unrewarded, but every grindy/capless game I've played that uses the system results in guilds of gatherers each funneling their resources towards a single crafter.

C'mon, think this through. Do I need to spoon-feed you?

I'm feeling stupid today. Would it be possible for them to appear in the person's inventory randomly?

No. You either store them from other tasks or your village supplies them for you.

Somebody could pay you in curiosities to deliver goods, and you can obviously get curiosities through trade. Being a merchant is pretty time intensive, so in the current system if you specialise as one you'll have pathetic skills since activity LP can't be bought.

You can also get paid in curiosities for *any* task, so there would no longer be jobs that are inherently low LP and thus nobody wants to do them, instead the LP payout for a job would be proportionate to the demand for it, thanks to market forces.
