my problem with this system is its slightly less open and forces me out of my sandbox, and other users. For some it makes it more enjoyable, but lets say i want to build a huge palisade and make cool stuff inside of it and just mess around with the awesomeness that this sandboxed environment offers, now i have to step out of that building and designing sandbox in order to unlock the things i need to continue it. Yes I would get some from chopping the trees, cutting the boards, picking random stuff etc, but it still removes me from what i wanted to do when i log in, which is develop my city.

For the high end players it will not effect them which in my mind is most the mods and the people that jorb and loftar listen to or at least give higher weight to their suggestions, because they are pushing for top quality items and having epic stats LP is a main goal. Many players like the openness that was offered in most the other worlds that allowed them to do w/e they wanted and still progress their character LP secondary.

You have added another step to getting lp that takes away from some of the sandboxed aspects of this game which made it such a gem in the stone pile that is indy games. I am still playing and enjoying the game, but not as much since I cant say im going to build this huge palisade, and then go "i wonder how much lp i have...holy crap thats alot more than i realized, now i can up my carpentry" or w/e, now there is a much larger starting up phase since the lp gain is slower and takes longer in the beginning at least. I am sticking around to see if the lp picks up which i can tell it does, but it still forces me out of my sandbox, maybe not yours....(the ones saying all complainers should just play another game, or the one defending his suggestions)...but for some i feel it takes away from one of the major compelling factors of this game...the closet to pure sandboxed mmo i have seen that was enjoyable...it has now become less sandboxed and more progression driven

for the less inclined to reading new lp system takes away from the sandbox feel for players

added some spacing for effect

yeah im new, in fact ill go as far as saying i have no idea what im doing atm. In my opinion though the system they have in place now encourages exploration of the game over simple grinding. The only issue im finding is the random scarceness of resources can make for a difficult time depending on your starting location. I'm sure it could use tweaking but my impression of it inst that it needs to be completely reworked, though admittedly I have no reference as to what the game system use to be.

I'd just like to add that in the new system, time is important. yet the system crashes a lot so the flaw is that when the server, which crashes at least once a day, crashes, all your studies stop. So "time" is an ineffective mechanism UNTIL the server becomes less crash prone.

This is indeed a valid concern. Perhaps jorb & l could put forth some sort of a drive for donations?

i dont care to read all posts as I feel this is the true nature of why the dev did this and a very simple way 2 fix this and keey current system.

1st. when i started in world 4 it took me only so long before i was able to solo as a nomad with no problem. HUGE farm and i was only a few days away from a mine. Haven and hearth seems more like a social type game that requires you to team up in order to benefit each other. originally this was done by 1 person maxing farm, carpentry, or cooking. and then they could have q1000 items that if they were nice enough to be given to a new players, would easily bump them up to a level that would take me months to achieve.
Now we are seriously forced to crowd together in whatever cave we find to stay warm together. we now pool our LP to benefit the cave and while 1 person works on making higher Q cur items others strive to make claims or other skills. 1 might boost exp and per so the community can start making seeds 1 person makes claim to protect it, 1 makes high q curs to help everyone, and then you have the activity groups. these are the members who dedicate their time to stealing, fishing, cooking, paving roads, and plain old gathering of anything.

but so far no1 enjoys the crap slow LP gain or waiting 2 days for the great cur items to finish. sooo what could some1 do to fix this? simple, bring back building lp where you gain like 10lp few each item used in a craft/ build. hell make it 5lp but the time it takes to build a lumber house you deserve 4klp. this would allow us to advance through the beginning stages a bit quicker and never over power the later stages of game play. this would also make things like new players having pre built buildings items and such that will help them advance themselves. i built a lumber house filled with loom, cupboards, and stuff. 1 week later i moved shop and left everything. 2 days later it had a small claim around it and the mass farm of carrots i left
