Scent claims

Postby WarpedWiseMan » Wed Aug 25, 2010 8:05 pm

I propose the idea of a scent claim to counter the ability of thieves/murderers simply vaulting their HFs or walling over walled in rams.

At the moment its too easy to grief and get away with it so, unless the perpetrator is monumentally retarded, only the exceedingly powerful can truly get justice.

*IDEA*

Instead of dreams you build a claim with scents. It has 100% decay when the clue naturally decays. It can only be a max of 5x5 and within the scent claim nothing can be built nor moved by anyone without permissions. Only one scent claim can be built per clue and per hearthling.

Obviously, there would need to be coding to avoid further griefing, like someone murdering an alt to build a ram that can't be destroyed, etc.

Maybe only allow the building of the scent claim within XXXX tiles of the hearth fire of the person or items that created the clue.

Eh, it needs tinkering with but something needs to change with the way people can just rob and kill without worry. There needs to be some kind of cautionary thought before you commit a crime.

Build a palisade and a claim...

Works perfectly...

Killing a murderer shouldn't leave your own murder scent, just makes you look like the murderer to the next person passing by.

You're a murderer if you kill other people. It doesn't matter if the person you killed was a serial killer, it's still murder.

Anyway, I'm not really understanding the OP here. How can this scent claim protect you in the first place against thieves/murderers? You don't have any scents at this time.

You may be the stupidest poster on these forums, and that's saying something.

@DigDog - I was referring to after a crime is committed. Unless you have 24 hours to sit and watch the ram dry within the palisade, there's a good chance it gets walled over. Yes, you can HF inside it but that risks your character unnecessarily while the criminal can sit behind walls and play the waiting game. Protecting yourself from murder isn't hard, but protecting yourself from the broken wall jump village idol bug, which for some reason is still un-fucking-fixed, is.
