I actually really like the idea of needing a light to perform certain tasks. Makes the night and day sliders actually useful, and makes trekking through caves a lot more fun.

this is not up for dispute

as has been pointed out several times - there are ways to improve how illumination works, there are other methods of making night/day interesting besides obscuring vision, and you personally finding blindness entertaining is irrelevant

what? night and day sliders don't effect how well you see at night

I'm saying the improvements based on night and day currently have zero effect on us since night and day don't even exist. If that were not the case, then it'd be beneficial for people that do activities that require light, etc.

are you thick? light is not the be-all end-all mechanic of day-night cycles. are you picking up any of this?

+1 Thank you, nice to know I'm not alone in liking the fact that torches and such are relevant, and that 'night' means 'dark'.

Although one point Jackard often makes about this I also agree with: "Changing gameplay at night would be nice, things that only spawn then, etc".
I think we need to keep the day/night light cycle and do the best we can to remove the exploit that allows it to be removed, but there also needs to be some elements that are day/night dependent as well.

2)What`s for stealing from logged out characters, it sounds great. In fact, it would add more fun, as you would lose your stuff at any time, which together with permadeath, actually adds to game "survivalistic" taste.
3)What`s for X-rays, those are thing which also makes the game actually playable. Heck, when you can`t throw a stone to a bear because of that tree, it sucks.

2 - I have a love hate relationship with this, provided that there are ways, with a little prep, to prepare to log out semi-safely in the wild? Fine.
3 - This is like saying that in a 3D environment, you should be able to see through a tree to hit your target. The 2d isometric view best emulates this exact situation by not being able to see through trees. Sometimes there are things in the way of your target. ;)

Nightvision should be removed, hovewer(once more light sources are aviable).

Agreed +1+1 Except there are PLENTY of light-sources available now.

Well, you have to hide yourself. Consider it as sleeping in a forest - some kind of tent which built from branches and such and is hid from the view once built but decays extremely fast would be nice. Boulders with an strongbox option and ability to bury your stuff is also nice.
What`s for looking-through-stuff, yeah, you`re right with shooting. But what one has to do with things that are behing walls/houses/bears?

Hm, but, I guess, some more light-sources would not hurt. For example,
Winterbrass wrote:Rapeseed oil lanterns do want

would be nice alternative to torches, giving more light. BTW, does flax oil works for that purpose? If yes, then we actually have a use for it.

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm all down with new light sources. I'm just saying that we don't NEED them to accomodate this.

My dream for lights?
