Highscores Table

Postby WRB852 » Wed Dec 01, 2010 4:50 am

Basically just a table containing all of the highest stats currently in the game. The names of those who possess them would be kept anonymous, of course.

What are your guys' thoughts? Personally I'm rather interested in seeing what these values are at.

I like the idea of an achievement list, which is kind of similar.

Would make who have low stats (like me) just give up this game.

Seriously, it's one of the worst ideas ever. Simply the fact that you were capable of coming up with such an idea is more than enough evidence that you're beyond all hope of convincing otherwise.

There is enough competition in this game for the ultimately meaningless grind of stats, there's no need to perpetuate it.

Competition is fun and is the engine that moves the players that are in for the long haul. I'm for high scores though not necessarily for them being mandatory. A submit for high score might be better. Maybe I have a 20k psy char out there that I really want to keep secret the world shouldn't know about it if I don't want to. I'm also for the game keeping track of stuff like how many of each animal killed, people murdered, item stolen, carrots eaten and anything else that might cross your mind. Item q should also be high scorable.

the achievement stuff sounds good, i don't think stats or skills or even total LP leaderboard should happen though

I have no problem with competition, what I have a problem with is competition that drives a 'High Score' as you put it. There are better and more worthwhile things to be working for than merely having the highest stats. High stats don't build world spanning roads, or create great tile art. It doesn't carefully design a town to be aesthetic as well as functional, and it doesn't spend time helping newbies get situated in this great wide world of ours.

High Score is nothing more than a rat at a feeder bar, trying to get ever fatter.
