"A Good Night's Sleep"

when is the last time you slept in a bed? i am not sure if i ever did this map.

i think sleeping in a bed should give your character a status effect when you log into him based on how long you have been logged off (with a max of course). This would give beds a benifit and people would actually use them.

there were rumors about new items in the beta server that would give exp even while you were offline. you could make the bed do that based on its quality, or just give a status effect like temperary fep % increase, % exp increase etc depending on how long you were logged out for (with a maximum).

Suggesting anything to do with LP gain is iffy since LP will probably be changed alltogether. A lot of games have the "well rested" buff for exp/lp gain, so I guess it wouldn't be bad to implement it here...

I use my bed quite often, like when I know I'm about to get off and I have travel weariness to rid myself of. I love having full TW logging out and logging back in fresh and ready to travel.

Frankly this is the only game where XP boosts of any kind worked in a way that didn't make me grind my teeth every time I saw it. But the idea of getting an LP boost for NOT playing just... No. You do not reward players for NOT playing, WoW did it to reduce server load, others did it because they are monkey-see-monkey-do. You just don't do it.

But if you must.

Instill an LP penalty for *NOT* sleeping in a bed when you log off, where logging off = X amount of time logged off. (30 minutes? An hour). Have this increment for every time you fail to sleep in a bed when you log off, until it gets to the point where you no longer earn LP, or are earning it at a much reduced rate. (Alternately or also, have it give a permanent happiness debuff, for when that mechanic gets instilled)

Sleeping in even a spruce bed will make this disappear.

Sleeping in nicer beds gives some kind of relevant bonus.

I'd suggest not messing with lp at all. If they do away with traveling to the extent that TW will not exist, then beds will be useless, though. Unless.... ;)

quick points:
-sorry not beta server, test server.
-lp was not being talked about being changed, it was the skill system
-it probably took you more time to make that bed than it will save you.
-the new final fantasy MMO took your advise bwithey, go look at some articles on that and realise why its the worst system anyone has ever thought up.

they have already tested "free" exp so i am not gonna bother talking about that seeing how you have no clue what iam talking about.

That game is not this game. They are different, with different focuses and intents.

This one is focused on community building, with the intent to build villages, kingdoms, and empires. Localization becomes important on that. Trade is far more relevant in this game, and in ways it isn't in that one. So don't compare apples and oranges friend.

it doesn't matter if the games are different, you dont understand what is even wrong with the system. Its the fact that players see the game punishing them for playing makes they totally dislike the system. you cannot implement that in any sort of game and get a positve reaction from players. you can however do something like WOW, which is the exact same thing as your system, however you give bonus exp. same end result, however the player feels "rewarded" instead of punished.
