Dig a hole

Postby Cajoes » Wed Jan 05, 2011 2:06 pm

A variation of the ginormous mine holes we can dig on appropriate spots. For storage purposes.

Basicly, a modestly sized hole you can dig into the ground using either your hands, or a shovel, maybe with a few branches as pit-props.

This hole will have room for one liftable item. Such as a container, or even a corpse. The hole will fill itself up once "loaded".

So it dual purposes as a grave or a secret stash. (Or not so secret since the soil graphics will probably look disturbed.)

Basicly: A less useful, cheaper leanto which probably shouldn't decay. (Unless your recently deceased should spring from the soil like bony missiles.*)

*Upon writing, I suddenly remember that used to be a bug in a earlier version of Dwarf Fortress

I submit this idea for review by the forum horde.

If only HF's were liftable

shove it under

rob someone

build HF

lift into hole

make another

lift item

build two homes

PROFIT
W3 - Apolion, Terricieil (old & new), Westedge & Saltmummys other place.
W4 - Quahog
W5 - Yggdrasil (now gone) - New Yggdrasil.

Well obviously you wouldn't be able to build on top of it because the hole itself (and its iconic dirt-pile) would count as a construct...

... though it would lead to retrieval parties literally tearing a place to the ground for their stuff.

Perhaps this could be coupled in with the ditch-digging idea that was mentioned elsewhere?

Although there would need to be some sort of mechanic to prevent the conflict of moats and storage holes in the same spot.

On an unrelated note, I am a proud member of the Church of Sabinate. Gib monies and don't get repotted!
