About nettle pants and shirt

Postby Shibi » Tue Feb 01, 2011 3:33 pm

I have to say that making an account on the wiki to fix this (after learning to edit a wiki page, since i never done that) and i think making a post about this is a better way to note it, but feel free to erase this thread after someone has taken notice about.

The wiki article of nettle items says acurately:
Nettle shirt stats are determined by q10stat*sqrt(quality/10) - rounded down for bonuses, rounded up for penalties.
Nettle pants reduce agility by 2 instead of 1 if Q11, still providing Q10 bonuses, thus it is advised to craft the Nettle set before raising your survival over 10. (this last only in nettle pants)

I have noted that q7 gives -1 agi +1 surv as according to this, but i have noted also that q13 and q17 (that "rounded up for penalties" dont seems to work as they give the same) has -2 agi +2 survival AND +1 unarmed combat <--- the wiki dont say a thing about this.

And i think that higher quality clothes will give a nice unarmed combat bonus

I also noted that "fits under armor" also permit equip another one as armor itself, i have right now 4 equiped (2 pants and 2 shirts) for a +8 survival -8 agi and +4 unarmed combat

I just think that a semi starter character could have +8 to survival and +4 to unarmed basically with cr@p is a major thing to note

After seeing the data (on nettle cloth) in this "A plea for information" topic.

I took a look at what seems to fit.
(The one on wiki I never understood. Well the "q10stat" bit for the most part.)

B = FLOOR(CEILING(SQRT(Q))/2) ... seems to fit. (only did/looked at survival)
Q: Item Quality
B: Survival Bonus
Code: Select all
Q   B
---   ---
1   0
2   1
10   2
26   3
50   4
82   5
122   6
170   7
226   8
290   9
362   10

While we are on the subject, why do higher quality nettle pants and shirts increase the penalty to agility as well as the bonuses to UC and Survival? Shouldn't higher quality things lower the penalty? I meant, game balance probably plays a part here, but seriously...

That's how everything with a penalty works. I know it may be hard to fathom with something abstract like a "nettle shirt", but think of it in terms of armor. The stronger and heavier it is, the bigger strain on your movement it will take. Things with bonuses and penalties are on opposite ends of the spectrum, as one increases, the other has to decrease.

Otherwise things with penalties/bonuses would be horribly imbalanced.
