Explanation of Farming in World 4

Loftar, can you please explain how farming works?

Mostly, I would like to know how the "softcap" works on farming.

If I produce q100 seeds, and then plant them in q10 soil, will the seeds go down drastically, or will they go down, say 5 points every harvest with a chance to increase 2 points?

If this is the case, I believe the new soil/farming system is absolutely ridiculous.

This seriously brings down the value of soil spots, now they are most useful for trees, and once q100++++ seeds begin to be spread around, whow cares where the your farms are?

That is exactly how it works and I agree it's retarded.

Edit: Sorry I meant the -5 +2 when your seed is higher than the soil quality is exactly how it works.

Actually this is a good thing. Soil nodes are too restrictive for crops and can fuck up village layouts and cause lag due to the high concentration of an entire village's crops in one minimap.

IMO q of crops should slowly drop if they're in inferior soil, so you can still plant fields anywhere and get decent results, but you have to get new seeds from a good spot every couple of generations.

It's not about realism, it's about making seeds a valuable trade commodity. There'd also be a fair deal of strategy in deciding what to use for consumption and what for reproduction, especially when it comes to breeding better cattle.

So large military organizations will control good water, good clay, and good crops, so that leaves independent people (hermits) and smaller towns of newbies with about one and a half of nothing.

Again, no thanks.

What's the point of having resources in the game if people don't have to compete for them?

So you basically expect to play solo and achieve just the same as a large city? :| What's the point of villages then?
