No for teleportation

Postby Mode » Sat Feb 12, 2011 12:11 pm

I know dev's were thinking about taking teleportation out for linger time and my opinion on this is DO IT!. Take teleportation away.

I think teleportation isn't in the spirit of the game also its kinda overpowered (makes milestones and gates useless)

Some people will say that it will makes trades Impossible but it's not true - you can build roads and run with a cart on it it is not that hard to run whole super grid or even two.

So don't be a lazyass teleportation fanboy and support this idea!

I'm all for removal of current fast travel, but not before those goddamn keys are abstracted away.

i'd like some kind of marching in addition to abstracted keys. maybe no stamina drain for following milestones?

Jackard wrote:So here's a list of various methods for encouraging mundane travel before you decide to do whatever with teleportation:

  • Easier to build milestones with no bounding box
  • LP for exploration
  • Directional and/or map-based automovement
  • Players marking routes on maps, acts like milestones
  • Bridges
  • Larger gates
  • Faster stump removal
  • Designations for roadbuilding
  • Pack animals (i usually use alts for this but it gets annoying and laggy)
  • Hidden caches
  • Queueing movement with waypoints
  • Mounts
i listed mounts last because they are probably more work than all of the rest

I think teleportation would actually be fine if it was limited to roads and was interceptable.

the fact that such a broken mechanic still exists is frankly embarrassing

The fact that the game is unbalanced, having griefers running rampant, and the community not mocking it (rather trolling it), is an embarrassment.

Rather than no teleportation, make it more fictional and in sense.

Having teleportation work as a "ritual" and takes time will balance out instant warpings between places.
Having teleportation with real time cooldowns prevent spamming of skill.
