Training dummies

I saw this in the training dummy thread in the bugs section, complaining about not being able to create dummies despite the text in the skill lore.

sabinati wrote:it would kinda be cool if you could make a dummy and practice combat moves on it. maybe you could set it's combat level or something and it would give you a better idea if you could really take on a level 4 fox or if you should just stick with level 3s. it shouldn't give lp gain for practicing combat. it would just be a tool so you could actually practice combat.

This sounds neat. You would be able to measure your strength against certain level animals/monsters, or players with certain armors. Perhaps maybe a Chinese style training post where the dummy would do soft damage according to the monster/animal level, and fight like it until the user is knocked out. A training dummy would be used as a measure of fighting ability, rather than a stupid lp farming device.

I personly would like a training dummy that can show your dps or somthing of the sort.
I also think it should have a dummy mode that makes it stand still and just take hits, so that noobs can experiment.
(sorry about my spelling/grammer)
and yes i see how old this is, but yet still no training dummy.

DPS is of no importance in this game. (You'd probably be better off trying to measure damage per minute.) Combat is a game of cards with moves and counter moves. Only when one side gets some kind of advantage does any damage actually occur. If both combatants are very good, that can take a while.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.

Only if that dummy would attack and dodge me which would be quite weird. Just spar.

Pretty cool, fun to see how much damage you can do if it would show the damage you hit.

But if it's nothing more than a punching bag that just takes damage, the only uses I can see for it are just testing out better quality weapons or when you get your stats up higher.

However, if like mentioned in the OP you could set "levels" to it, or maybe they have more hitpoints/defence based on the quality of the materials used to make it and possibly repairing it would set the defense/hitpoints back to full or it regenerates back after you've stopped combat with it, idk. It could be useful in teaching newbies how to do a basic set of moves and attacks to just outright kill someone like just stacking IP, spamming flex, punch the defense down and sting them or whatever.

But then again you can teach someone that and better by just sparring.
