Location movement cursor

Postby jgudge » Wed Feb 16, 2011 5:11 pm

What i've been realizing recently is that there's no way to tell how far you're moving after you've clicked. This isn't a massive issue, and more of a "love to have" rather than "OMFG WTFBBQ, DISH NEEDSH OR EYE DYE!!!"

So here's my suggestion. In most top-down commander style games, there are movement cursors. You select a unit, click on a location, and a waypoint "flag" or beacon appears, and the unit moves to that location.

When i'm boating, the boat moves rather quickly, and i sometimes forget where i clicked last, so this is a rather useful thing to have imo. This isn't a suggestion for pathfinding, as the lord knows how many times that's been suggested already, but rather a reminder as to the last place you clicked for movement, and/or dropping an item.

This is my suggestion, a flag or even a dot to show where you've asked your little hearthling to move.

I edited this out, thanks for the tip. My original idea stands though.
