Firewood pile & Ramp

Postby adamater » Thu Feb 17, 2011 10:53 pm

A new item and building suggestion.

1.A building that blocks of wood & planks can be stored in without decay.

2.A ramp/ladder used for moving from one ground layer to a higher or lower one.

Palisade signs make nice woodblock stockpiles for up to 100 woodblocks per tile.

Technically, these exist. How does your idea differ from the ladder that is already created every time you build a minehole?

I believe he means ramps/stairs in order to cross the "ledges" found across the world.

This however would cause problems because many people use these as sides of a wall/barrier for their settlements.

It would also be weird because there are no "layers". You can walk all around a cliff without any problems. There is no elevation.

What I mean was the ledges, it would be nice if villages with them on the claim can walk up and down them

I'm actually for the idea, simply because I sometimes build my settlement areas around a ledge and it's kind of a pain to walk all the way around. I was just mentioning that if something like that were implemented, it would break a lot of people's defenses.

Last time the suggestion came up people were crying that devs couldn't add something to bypass cliffs without a reset because villages had stupidly based their defense around them. guess the devs forgot

personally i'd like to see cliff removal and also the ability to hop down cliffs like in zelda

Just add a new item aswell when adding "ladders" - "spike trap", you'll need about 4-6 wood blocks and a sharp item, out of these you can build spikes -> which will be usable in a spike trap.

Ineffective if you're on the same "ground level" as the spikes ( probably dealing a small ammount of damage or slowing you down )

If on the other hand the person is coming from a higher elevation ( previously used "jump" or a ladder ) it'll result in an insta death ( or extreeeeeme pain / + debuff ).

Ladders could probably aswell be used to bypass any walls - making them only useful with additional defenses
for example a row of these spike traps behind the wall
Palisades would dead a small amount of damage by nature ( being large spikes themselves )

And adding "upgrades" to the wall itself could be a possibility - for example adding glass to the top of a brickwall.
Climbing the wall would then result in cuts / damage and a possiblity for falling back down the ladder - risking additional damage on further attempts.

Seemed always a bit strange to me why a 1.50m high Wall is considered to be the ultimate defense.

I don't believe that the developers have yet implemented multiple layers of elevation; once that is done, I'm sure it will be a natural development.
