XMPP notifications - only if you can see the scent

Edited to be more clear:

in the past, if you couldn't see a scent, you didn't know it existed. however now with XMPP notifications. you know a scent exists even if you only had a 1/100 chance of seeing it normally.

This makes stealth useless against organized villages. it will still work against noobs, as they do not use notifications.

i think the XMPP notification should only be sent if the owner of the plot passes the same scent test he would have had to in game. This would make stealth usefull again. and make it so valuble resource spots would actually have to be claimed by mains if they want to be notified offline of crimes by high stealth criminals.

i cant see the point of your suggestion to restrict notifications to "main" only.
how would the system find out which char is your main anyways?
and if only one charactor is allowed to get notifications from one account, people can just make multiple accounts to make many "mains" to get notifications, cant they?

btw, the notification isnt working currently, haven@seatribe has been offline since last night, again.

the system would only need to check per*exp vs the perp's stealth*int. main just means a character that you've invested in. but really, if they are putting down huge claims there is obviously some investment there, so i don't know if this would really change much.

Why would i bother increasing my stealth whatsoever in the current system? all actions cause a notification no matter my stealth. They always know the scent exists.... so stealth is useless. however if they dont know the scent exists, then i might get away with it. thus my stealth actually was usefull.

IMO they should just axe notifications. Defences are still too good even without them.
