Tow Lines

Postby trainan1234 » Sat Feb 26, 2011 6:42 pm

I was moving and I was getting sick of going back and forth. I think it would be great to have tow lines to take 3 boats.(1 your riding, 1 you can carry, then 1 you can tow.) You would have to get

Animal Husbandry
Boat Building
Basic Mechanics

Otherwise you would need Rope Making. You could get Rope Making for 3000.
For a tow line you would need

3 Rope

If you have Leather Working you could make advanced tow lines. Advanced tow lines would let you hold 2 boats but the boat you ride in would lose a space
To make advanced tow lines you would to have to have

10 Leather
6 Rope

To use a tow line or advanced tow line you would have to be in a boat left click on
the tow line or advanced tow line and right click on a different boat. Do that one more time on a different boat for the advanced tow line. The tow line would take up 2 up and down spaces. When the tow line is used it's not in the inventory. You can get the tow line back by right clicking on the boat that you put it on. An advanced tow line would take up 3 up and down spaces. When the advanced tow line is used it's not in the inventory. You can get the advanced tow line back by right clicking on the boat that you put it on. Do that to the other boat to get the advanced tow line back. When the advanced tow line is used on only one boat it would go from your inventory. Also when the advanced tow line is used on one boat the gap between the boats is larger so its harder to turn without getting stuck. When the boat gets stuck you get the advanced tow line back and the boat that you were towing would stay still.

He's talking about moving boats, not moving items.

I'd say have a HF at the target area you wanna warp back...
You can drive a boat and lift up another.

Actually pretty sure he's talking about moving items, and only using the concept of boats as a storage transportation item because he's not aware of how huge wagons are.

Wagons are specifically designed for moving large quantities of liftable items across a large area.

It's still worth it. You'll get 2.5 more with one wagon trip on raft than you would with 3 boats, and raft certainly isn't 2.5+ times slower than boat.

Don't need cows for a wagon. Also, islanders have trouble with wagons since they're not easily mobile on a perfectly palisaded paradise. Damn big thing not fittin' through a gate.

All you need is 3 rope for 1 tow line not 8 rope and 32 blocks of wood. For advanced tow lines you need 10 leather and 6 ropes.

just leave it outside. raiders usually dont have a cow in their inventory (and if they do, it wont move any more  )
