Tree People

I was thinking it would be cool if the random tree people I spot sometimes could play a slightly bigger role in the game; what I was thinking is that they act totally peaceful regularly but if they see you cutting down a tree or killing a rabbit or any other innocent animals they aggro you. What do you think? :P

Maybe not for chopping down one tree but for deforestation, yes. Definitely not for killing animals; what's the help in disrupting the ecosystem?

Yeah mainly what I had in mind was some boogey man to discourage people from overly cutting down trees. So I guess a giant tree wouldnt care to much if a rabbit died but would be angry if you chopped down its brother for firewood.

I dunno how they would make it so it wouldnt attack people who cut down one tree; only those who practice deforestation. Maybe a two strike system?

If it sees you cutting down a tree, it follows you for a bit, and if you start cutting down another tree it goes batshit crazy and aggros you

It would only work if the Dryads are ridiculously powerful. This would also add the fun of organizing Dryad hunting parties.

Yeah, I wonder what would be in their corpses? or what they taste like?

Maybe to balance the universe, if the dryad sees you planting a tree it will reward you somehow.

temporary speed boost maybe?
full hunger bar?

Not being killed is a good reward.

Dryads can be a elemental that rewards players with buffs for good deeds, and debuffs for bad deeds.

Buffs include:
Health recovery (Heals all HHP and SHP to max hp)
Hunger recovery (Makes you 99% hunger and make hunger static and can't be dropped over time for a short duration)
Skill boost (Farming skills gets boosted according to your Int)
Second Chance Effect (Prevents you from being murdered one time when you get knocked out by animals).

Debuff includes:
Curse (lowers your stats and skills temporarily and slows you to a walk)
Locus Storm (Causes a large area to suffer from a locus swarm, destroying crops and attacking players but can't murder or kill obviously)
Fear (Causes your hearthling to cower in fear, and unable to do any action other than walking for several minutes)

You can make up more if you want.
