Raccoons

Postby Katnipz » Thu Mar 10, 2011 3:29 am

I would like to suggest a new animal: Raccoons.

Raccoons can steal food from baskets left outsides, though they leave a scent in place of the food allowing anyone to track them. (Even if they don't have ranging)
Raccoons could be picked up like rabbits or fought with. (Suggest which one you would like. I really have no idea which would be better they seem a tad too big to put in your pocket.)
The reason I will thinking they could maybe be fought with is so they were a basic enemy that is even easier then a fox to kill, to help train people for heavier combat.
They are passive, and give 100 LP

Raccoons would have a 1x1 square hide that could be crafted into a raccoons skin hat (Marksmanship +2? Q10)
After standing still raccoons would slowly turn half invisible.

Please post other things that may go well with this idea, an idea is always better when you have more heads thinking of it.

I just got a frying pan and I would love for there to be raccoons to chase with it

Well, I like me a nice coonskin cap, don't get me wrong, but what's better is a nice coon stew, preferably spell stoo, cause everyone knows real stoo ain't got no fancy pants upside down M's or e's. Might give a might fine dose of all dem FEP thingies too, although probably some o' dose nasty black ones as well. Anna fur coat ta keep me warm at night when I can't find no pretty ladies hereabouts, coon skins are mighty fine fer makin dose as well.

Yes but its a must have animal for Salem, I like the stealing food bit (not the scents and tracking), it would break animal AI out of the fight-or-flight model they have been locked in.

Magpies would be more appropriate animal thieves, and more annoying since they could fly over your walls. Plus they're more likely to steal shiny things than food ;)
