New Changes

Postby DimarypEvans » Sun Mar 13, 2011 9:25 am

Hey. I usually avoid forums like the plague. But I felt it necessary to make a comment on the new changes.

They suck.

Well, not all of them. I like being able to study items and what not, but to not grant us our Learning Points for draining our time into building things or plowing/paving roads or clear cutting forests for palisades is just rediculous in my opinion. Now all that well deservered LP goes down the crapper. I can understand maybe a REDUCED LP gain with the implement of the study system (which I do like, but would like to see it more as a bonus side project for a little extra LP) but to rob us of all the LP after the first time doing something is just mean... I mean, to make the study worth it, one of the things you can make early on is that idol you can create, but this requires 1 bonesaw, 1 log and 1 stone axe to build. That's a little hefty at such an early phase of the game. Bones are a bit hard to come by. If you don't have Hunting and a decent exploration, even rabbits are in a rare commody.

It's a little bit of a bummer, too, that the personal belief time increased quite a bit..

I'm hoping these changes won't stick or at least be revised.

This game is an alpha stages. You are a tester, play with the system longer before voicing your opinions, everyone who's tried it previously thoroughly enjoyed it over the current system, seeing as we played farther into the game, there's probably a reason for that.

W4 was absolute shit and needed to die before it was even born, it felt like it was, an orphan child only made because W3 died prematurely. W5 has problems and will also probably die soon enough (not last a year I mean, no idea how long it will last, no one knows not even the devs), but it's a big step up from W4 and has brought in some new balance that is nice, however it does need a little tweaking since there are some bugs that make starting TOO easy (can get to boat building in 5minutes).

Now that LP is gone, there is one less reason not to just remove or drastically reduce the time it takes to build stuff. Just speed stuff up, get rid of boring an pointless waiting!

Yup, I prefer the new Lp system. Don't need to grind fires for Lp anymore, I just need to explore.

Just because you've "played further into the game" doesn't mean anything. You shouldn't have to be a senior player to appreciate the game mechanics. And, quite frankly, this is an asinine way of thinking. What about new players? I enjoyed being able to get LP for building and such, and why the hell wouldn't you? Hell, stats and skills in this game are expensive enough without having to rely on the curiousity/study system. And it's BECAUSE I'm a tester that I'm posting this in the first place. I have been playing for a decent enough time to have appreciated the system before it was revamped like this. This is just stupid. And I'm noticing other threads where people agree with me. It now takes WAY longer to gain LP which was already hard enough to gain before the changes. People are going to leave (and already have) this game because of these revisions.

Way to screw your players over. This is FFIV all over again.

I completely am against this entire concept, and feel that the slower gain of LP is actually an argument for KEEPING things the way they are.
