Ox powered plows?

Was stamping dirt to form the foundation of my log cabin when I had one of my rare insights.

Why can't we hitch bulls to our plows?

The mechanics for hitching animals to things already exists and it'd give cattle owning communities a edge over those lazy stick farming peasants. And would increase cattle value as a commodity rather than just chorizo stuffers on legs. (Or in addition to being jewelry's bottleneck, a source of poor leather, or milk factories, or a harrowing brown mooing menace that devours everything in its path.)

Just thought it'd be neat.

I don't see why not, maybe it wouldn't drain stamina, and plow 2x tiles at once. For those big paving jobs, or insane wheat fields.

I'd be loath to give it some kind of speed benefit because it'd make the aforementioned metal plows ridiculously fast and bulls aren't exactly renowned for their speed. Stamina and plow radius would be great though.

perhaps they plow at walk speed, but plow 3x tiles instead or 2 as sotsa said.

though maybe if they did plow a larger area, you would have to build an ox-plow or the 'cow plow'
it would just be double the req of a regular plow

been suggested, have it plow several tiles so they can implement it along with larger crop tiles

here. not exactly your idea, but almost. this is a harvester pulled by cow, but it wouldnt make much difference to to make a cow plow to.

both could simply have the skill req of farming and basic mechanics

meh, thats the closest i could find, it's pretty much the same thing, one plows and one harvests,
if you were really into the idea another could be made to plant as well.
