Too easy to grief+Griefer spawned in my base

Postby Mateusz_Zboj » Sat Jul 16, 2011 9:59 am

Hey, yesterday a griefer random spawned in my base. Just guess what happened?
I mean, what are the odds of this happening?
I didn't lose something really valuable myself (except for drying time), but i feel sorry for my friends that had to lose a lot of stuff.
Also our public storage was completly rampaged, and like 50% stuff was restored, and got deinventorised.

The worst thing was that we had village idol build, but not activated yet. It would take us like 1-3 days till it will be.

Now seriously people, is it something normal to just destroy someone's else work just because you can? IS IT?!
Well nothing can be done... nothing except kicking his HS out of here, building idol and repairing damage done...

As my suggestion, make griefieng harder.

EDIT:
OH! Sorry, just noticed he destroyed I had.(including those awesome ql125 bear tooths I was paid) Well what a fun I had there after all.
One of my friends was "punish-killed" in a griefy manner for killing the griefer. Wohoo fun all the way.
Uhh and in real life I'd get 1/2 recompensation for the damage...

EDIT2:
How about peaceful side server where you cannot steal and vandalise, only knock people out?
Or maybe some semi-peaceful where both sides have to agree for battle?

Get used to it, people are dicks in RL and in game. Specially in game. Because if they can't do any harm, because they are nerds in RL, they need to do it in games.
In game I'm not so pissed as in RL if I see someone who is destroying things just out of his enjoyment and fun. I say that those people deserve quick shot in the head without question and bill for bullet sent home to family to pay it.

In game there are mechanics that allow you to safe storage things up. Make an alt, give him backpack o/and any other inventory increasing item and store valuable stuff there. I recommend having another account for that alts just so you can run two clients at same time when you need some stuff or transferring.
Other suggestion: join village that you trust.
Another suggestion: build wall and not only palisade. Palisade is butter now, almost everyone from decent village can bash it down in 5 min. Build brickwall.

Edit: oh and forget about peaceful server. People want to be dicks so they are against it, and that also reflects their sexual life: bigger dick in game, bigger loser in RL.

No, there won't be a peaceful server because the griefing on it would be so horrendous and unstoppable that it's unthinkable with the game in its current state. The last thing this game needs are unbreakable hearthfires blocking every gate and every resource now being 100% unobtainable because they've been claimed.

As it is, the cost to grief as opposed to the cost to prevent griefing are much higher. To protect your belongings, Yeomanry goes a long way or you can just put your belongings in a leanto and they'll need theft or vandalism to get them. If you have too much to fit into a leanto, just put your hearthfire in front of a house's door and they'll need vandalism to touch anything.

As imperfect and rapidly weakening as they are, walls will stop most if not all petty griefing. Palisades work pretty well for a long time. Brickwalls fix what can't be solved by that.

Brand new characters don't spawn with the capacity to touch anything on claimed land, so just keep your valuables on land you own or on separate characters. Otherwise, you don't really own them and it's that simple. You can think you own them and claim you own them but the game is impartial and will not recognize your demands as being reality. Now, if this individual broke into your base and had the skills to break things anyway -- tough luck. They paid for the skills necessary and found a way through your defenses, if you had any. The problem being that no matter what, when you get griefed, it was obviously too easy for the griefer and they should be punished.

Oh it is really hard to get 100k LP for vandalism? It can be done one new character in 1-2 weeks if you have access to good curios or metal. Nothing hard here. You don't even need to be online doing anything, just log in once per day, change curios and logout. Voila new vandalism char that can be used to fuck up other people. Fun? If u have small dick or if you don't have girlfriend, yes.

If it takes you a week or two to get 100k lp, you're really bad at this game. Your attempt at patronizing is weak, your insults weaker, and your ability to avoid the point in general worst of all.

What does it cost to secure your belongings on a brand new character? 5 branches and a beautiful dream. What does it cost to break through that? A 20k skill, a 30k skill, and a 50k skill along with the risk of being killed by leaving a summonable scent. The exchange in this scenario is simple, it's a lot easier and cheaper to secure your belongings than to take or destroy them.

If you want to get fancy you can spend a bit more to actually buy Yeomanry, own the land, and then build a wall. If you run a single character and do this on your own you can have your wall up and secure in an hour or two, depending on the camp size. If you multiclient and run 3 or 4 characters, you can build the entire wall in ~15 minutes. Or if you have friends or neighbors helping you, just as good as if you were multiclienting.

The exchange never changes, it's easier, quicker, and cheaper to establish defenses than it is to grief or raid. Considerably even.

If you make new character you need to just wait and be logged in so you can change sliders to full peaceful and change. If you are gonna burn curios at lower learning rate good, but you still need to spend same time to get LP and you burn more curios. Also I was telling for new character so 10 int and maybe 10 from gear if you have anything spare lying around. What is a point spending int food on alt that is only leveled to get vandalism and fuck others around. It will get killed in days. And this tactics can be used to steal good q clay. Make alt, go dig 100 clay, get that clay to your main and spend it fast, leave HF of alt somewhere in I don't know where and leave runestone beside: thanks you for you clay. They can easily summon it and kill it. You got clay worth several pearls while they got only a kill on alt with 100k LP that you can mass produce this days anyways.

If you get alt to 100k LP even faster than in one week even worse. You just proved that system is even more bad that I thought.

So what does new system solve?
Nothing.
People still mass bots everything.
People can easily make griefing and stealing/vandalising alts without risk of their main to be punished.
People can play this game not even being playing it actually.

Of course with old system we had botting to and botting should be addressed with other solutions. New system was only a wrong solution for a wrong problem.
But if devs "allow" botting to continue then we are all ok with that. If someone can bot then everyone can bot.
But botting will slowly destroy this game as there will be no point in playing because we will have scripts for everything and no need to actually sit behind computer and click around.

It is cheap and easy to get defenses up, but it is also very cheap and easy to get griefing character up when you get metal curios or enough perc*expl on main to forage good curios.
Also there is no more point in walls anymore as we get new ways to jump over walls each week. This week introduced charter stone bug.
Also there is no more point in having yeomanry except for making a claim where stuff won't decay. Because every griefer has griefing alts or impenetrable multiple vaults. (as I read in one thread someone had 10 vaults and it is almost impossible to get in all 10 fast enough before they build another vaults).

So tell me now what is all point? You have defense that can easily be overtaken with someone playing more than a month.
All was because of botting and new system made leveling alts even easier if not peace of cake.

I'd bother replying but you're starting to worry me with how you're pulling things out of thin air. Also how you seem to ignore every key point and just sort of go off on your own tangent. So, shine on you crazy star you.
