more wine storage!

was thinking about stuff for holding wine in. bottles and wine racks work, but most people just use them for decoration. how many of us can honestly say they don't just use buckets to store their wine? whats the point of bottles when you have cupboards filled with buckets filled with wine? I was thinking, what if we had jugs to store wine in. it would hold about 5l of wine or beer. half of what a bucket would carry, made of clay, two vertical spaces. because of its small size (half that of a bucket) it allows for more flexibility in arranging your cupboards. we could also have some of those wine urns. they could hold 20l of wine and take up 6 inv slots, could be made with 10 clay, a block of wood, and some wax. the urns can also hold water or beer. we could also have racks to hold these jugs and urns on to serve the same decorative purpose as wine racks. unfortunately, this doesn't make bucket storage obsolete, if anything it was just an idea for more fancy, functional, decoration.

Wine storage is pretty good for the moment; let's talk tea.

Tea bags? Made of tea leaves and bark? Can be made for x number of tea leaves and used x times?
Cauldrons could be used to store however many gallons of tea a cauldron could hold. You'd still need a teapot, and after a certain point you would have to cook it over a fire, but you could store it, then. :-/

Tea doesn't store, no matter what it's made out of. Alcohols will keep for a very long time if stored properly.

?
They've been making bottled tea for quite some time now, and it keeps for months at least.

I also think that the way the wine is handled in this game needs working because the wineracks are no good

I propose this:

wine in bottles stored in a winerack gains q over time, the amount of q it gains depends on the initial base q (or becomes aged wine with better results).
the wine stored on buckets loses q over time.
Let us drink from the bottles!! not dinking all the wine, adding the command "take a sip"
make the glass of wine a symbel item to decorate tables (without losing i'ts current purpose)

That sounds like a really good idea. It reflects what would happen in reality.

I was just thinking about this too. My thoughts: Wine transferred to a wine rack should gradually increase q, until it reached a cap created by the quality of the bottle and/or rack (as cheese racks don't have quality, I suppose it makes more sense for the system to work the same way, and have the bottle affect the quality. I would just prefer the rack to have an effect because I have better quality trees than sand....). Wine stored in q10 bottles in a cupboard shold not have the q negatively affected.

Unfortunately, this would probably create a system of fairly limited use, as a dedicated vintner could get their wine q up faster by harvesting the grapes quicker, instead of hunting the one place in the world with high q sand. The solution? More beaches!

Before this goes farther, wine racks/bottles have been discussed before and is a much in-demand feature. :)
