New Curio: Gordian Knot

The rationale for this is to have a sink for all the different kinds of string that may be cropping up in your cupboards at different technology levels (taproot/fibres/hide straps). The curio should be rather at the low end of the curio range. In my suggestion below, I may have made it rather too good (half the amount of LP compared to a primitive doll, with equal amount of study time and attention. Maybe increase the material cost to one rope, and increase the study time significantly (I just did not have the heart to put it at levels with the terrible Leather Ball, even though the materials for this one is easier to come by than those of the ball.).

Arbitrary balance suggestion:
Materials: 4 string (or 1 rope + 2 string)
Base LP: 250
Study time: 8 hours
Attention: 4
Inventory space: 1x1 tiles

Excellent idea!

Makes perfect sense, nice name, useful for stashing all that crappy old string together.

Would be a good reason to forage all those taproots again.

I was a little disapointed to not see curios being responsible for unlocking crafts (and more curios). If such a thing were done, knots could be a progressive curio developing with you and being restricted to one knot study (due to easy mass production) Study of the curio should be linked to ability to craft (like say you can study one knot above your current crafting ability to promote trade and community).

Some knots could require other materials and be required studies (i.e. study x10 level three knots to unlock pallisades etc. for other knots and constructions/crafts involving rope).

When I first heard Jorbtar describing curios I had inferred they would be responsible for learning crafts (rather than simpling having access to the item) and I was dubious about the system at first but I'm fairly impressed at the way it changes gaming motivation and the sort of game it creates.

Excellent idea as usual, Gautemus.

As you said, this game needs more mediocre craftable curios as a sink for some items. Your knot idea fits the bill well. The one thing about it is that it's 100% string, so the quality could get up very high for anyone with a long running farm.

I think the leather ball needs to get adjusted to something more like 30 LP/hour as well.

True, GoodGirl, maybe make it 1 rope + 2 hide straps, with averaging weight on the straps?
a simple q = (rope q + strap q + strap q) / 3 could work

Glass and sticks to contruct and mount the knot inside a clear box.

if you made the LP gain from it low, so it only became decent in the Q 150s+, I wouldn't really be concerned about it being overpowered.
