Hirable pets/minions would be neat. Like you could build a stone/brick/metal/wood/clay golem that would each have a different effect.

Wood golem:
Gives. Radius likee a beehive that makes trees grow faster and increases spawn rate of forest animals/plants.

Ston golem:
Can hurl rocks at invades, nearby animals, ec.
Only buidable on personal claim.

Metal golem:
Shoots metal arrows like a stone golem.
Only buidable on a villaage claim.

Clay column:
makes soil q raise a certain mount per set of time.
has a pool like village idol that a person must put clay into it to make it keep working, if it runs out it is destroyed and soil returns to reqular.

Water golem:
Makes a pond around it with slight chance of water foragables, can breed fish in it. The higher the q of fish, the higher q of water gotten. Fish are maintained like a cupboard, so a stone in front player could lick to open a space the sizze of a cupboard for fish storage, eggs, etc. Also could put baaits worms, leechs, nd ints into rock like adding food to a coop. If now fish in pond for one week the water turns o swamp land and golem to a willow tree.

The closest to magical things this game has, and probably ever will have is Trolls, Dryads and the various Numen prayers. The stuff you're talking about is more suited to Ultima Online or Runescape.

I don't know there a lot of games out there with magical and fantastical creatures. I like how Haven only touches on it. It's refreshing.

Maybe golems is a bad word for what I am speaking of. When we wanted to move water we made arigation, when we wanted power we used windmills and watermills.
So instead of calling them golems and going with a creature type of aspect what if they were a type of mechanics. Instead of a water golem you have a water pump with a hole around it, and it pulls water from underground, so instead of building a well you could build that. It would also allow you to hold fish.

The stone/metal golems could be like booby traps that have a "trip Wire" area and if you hit it then they target you and fire, or just fire in that direction.

The clay golem could be a clay/composte heap. Looks like a big clay bin with a lid and you add things you don't need to it (other then metals) and water, and then after a weak you have a bin full of soil figured off of the Q of water you used and what stuff you put into it.

Instead of a wood/tree golem you could have a totem poll type thing that is really a bird feeder. These birds or squirrel/rabbit house they raise the Q of the trees and help grow faster because they help spread pollen/seeds etc...

Now I can't understand what your idea is.

I think he just turned a 180° from golem like minions to simple contraptions making certain tasks easier. Windmills, waterpumps etc. That kind of stuff sure would be nice, but has been suggested numerous times.
