Abandonned should stay as it is. Crops are untended, herds are starving, food throughs are empty, crops are not harvested, buildings are slowly falling into disrepear. Thats ok.
But there isnt much difference when it comes to raided village aside from the scents. Yes the herd might be slaughtered, yes the small buildings like kilns and ovens might be smashed BUT.
Major parts of the walls and most of the housing and mines are most of the time intact. Nothing stops the survivors or alts from fixing the walls and rebuilding.
So what im suggesting would not only give a new technique to raiders , it will also give a new use to torches!
So lets say we raid village X, kill a bunch of people, slaughter, loot and destroy as much shit as we can. Thats already a big blow the Xians suffered but why not raze the village to the ground as a final blow?
First we would need a way of razing that is balanced and fair for both sides. 1 person shouldnt be able to set fire to the whole village.
I came up with 2 ways for this, but i think 1 is more balanced than the other.
1: The raiders are superior in numbers than the defenders, while they fight and pillage, they can immediatly torch any building they come uppon.
2: The raiders need to take control of the village in a special way. I think capturing the Idol would be good for that. Just camp around the idol for a certain amount of time and if the defenders arnt able to defeat the raiders or time expires, the idol is capped, which unlocks the ability to set everything ablaze.
I know these could be heavily balanced, completely changed or set completely new conditions. If you have any more ideas, feel free to post them

Now that i explain the base, to actually set the building on fire you will need a lit torch, right click the chosen building and select ''set ablaze'' (or something). As for how the building takes damage, it should start with low damage, but as time passes it takes heavier damage (You all agree that a house that is completely on fire gets more damaged and is harder to put out than one with a freshly lit fire.)
There could be different stages to the fire, each with its own graphical change to the building. 1st tier would be a small fire somewhere on the building and some smoke, last tier the building is just a big ball of fire with a pillar of black smoke.
As for fighting the actuall fire, villagers would have to fill a bucket at the well and dump the water on the building like they do to fill a barell. This would decrease the severity of the fire until its out.
The time it takes to crumble should depend on the size of the building, what its made of and if villagers are trying to put the fire out.
If it does crumble, it could either completely dissapear or get its graphic changed for a burnt ruin. Everything inside the building when it crumbles is lost with the building itself.
