Wheat

A few suggetions:

First: Make harvested wheat give three/four seeds instead of one/two. As it is, I wonder how much energy is expended planting/harvesting/grinding/cooking a loaf of bread compared to the amount of energy you get out of it. I a bit of a bonus towards making it a staple food crop would be great.

Second: Storage objects varying not just on number of squares/layout, but on object preservation? This would be useful once food degredation over time comes in. I.E. Crates would be really big, and hold a lot of space, but are not so good at keeping food fresh.

Third: Inventory space! I don't know about everybody else, but I for one would love to see inventory made about, say, four squares bigger? ( OOOhhh... so THATS what backpacks do.....)

Regarding the first point, another perhaps easier solution could be to make 1 seed turn into 1 flour, instead of the current 2 seeds for 1 flour.

On a similar note: I am all for having big fields of wheat keeping us fed. But at the moment the clicking involved is pretty intense. I wonder if a future possibility could be the development of a meta-command such as 'harvest wheat'. Searches for squares of wheat in the local area, and automatically adds the required movement/harvest actions to the que.

I would also recommend renaming these 'seeds' as 'grain'.

Finally, being able to turn linen into sacks for flour/grain would be fantastic! Esp. in collaboration with a 'harvest wheat' command, if you simple fill up the rolled-up sacks in your inventory, and drop the sacks on the ground when full for later collection. Then, have the sacks stored in larger parent containers. They could be like a bucket is for water, saving a lot of space. Ditto for flour. As grain and flour is not really divisible into individual objects in the same way as other objects, putting them in these kinds of holding bags would make a lot of sense.

Interesting idea, actually.

I will be brief on your first point -- The two/three seeds per pick ratio is actually optimal. With a small field, even 4x4 in design, you still get a good 8 loaves of bread right there, and while the constitution is a big smack in the face, its bread! A person completely specced into nature could potentially get up to 16 loaves from that same wheat field! That's a lot of bread.

The idea of making a flour sack sound totally awesome! But, I have one question -- If you think about designing a flour sack, then that means you'll probably have to think about designing a seed bag, or a rock bag, or... well, you get what I mean. It's probably in their plans, but I question what else would benefit from the design of having this "Here's an item that can stack one type of item many times" idea... and what could potentially hurt the game as well from it.

Maybe if there is a generic sack which can hold items such as grain/flour. It is the same when empty, and same materials to make, but is a distinguishable object when holding a particular type?
