I find it maddening when making RR Extract that you have to be anal about creating it without waste. Should it not just make up 0.5l at a time instead of 0.4, and make the creation of large amounts of extract not such a chore?

Id be a little annoyed, because a 1l Jar works nicely with Rennet and cheese making.
