Seed bins

Postby Caradon » Mon Dec 28, 2009 12:18 am

Farmers have been getting kicked in the nuts lately, time to cut them a little slack, yea?

I propose seed bins. Contains just as much as cupboards but only holds seeds, and has a sorting function.

I already use cupboards plus seedbags to store large amounts of seeds. Where is the advantage in seedbins?

Outside storage, quick access, sorting best to worst

Sorting is not an advantage exclusive to seedbins, but something they could add to any container.

So all you've got is seed-only outside storage? pfah. what a waste of development

Sorting has been suggested a lot before yet they do not seem eager to do it even though it will help more than thousands of wardrobes...

At this stage in the game, nothing is truly a waste of development unless it's only a minor tweak. You are correct that an outdoor seed only cupboard would suck, but it could contain hundreds of seeds of different quality, not a slotted container, More like vendor stands, It would sort from highest quality to lowest and stack, up to 400 seeds.

They are fucking seeds, they are small, no way in holy hell they could take up even one space in a backpack.

I could fit 1m^2 worth of pumpkin seeds in my palm.

But anyway, I see these bins working only if they were more like granaries, in that they would store crazy amount of seeds for their area (more than any standard container). Maybe make it possible to hook up troughs to granaries, and add a simpler interface - right click with a seed bag on granary to fill the bag, as opposed to all that shift clicking you normally do (bagged seeds should be directly millable, of course).
