Way to hold more coins easily

Postby Rift » Sun Jun 14, 2009 4:14 am

I understand that coins should in theory take up space.. and that 1steel bar = 100 coins.. but.. its kinda just as hard to hold large sums of steel in coins as large sums in bars.. would be nice for some independent bag for carrying coins.. like a learther coin purse or something that can hold say.. atleast 1000 coins
I dont think that its that extreme to have such a thing.. it would really help.

...Now i just have to wait till everyone trys to come steal from me now that i said i need a easier way to hold steel coins.

I'd also like some more common metal coins, like copper and tin, and some sliver with the oh-so-very-rare gold; This would allow for change to be made and large sums to be traded more easily.
This would still require change purses, as each coin would be a separate stack. probably.

you need a coin worth less then cast iron? really?
do you actually value anything less then a single cast iron coin?
More valuable then steel i agree with though.

Yeah, we do plan to implement a few special-purpose "container items" sooner or later. Apart from a wallet, I, myself, would like a seed bag and a tool belt.

a bar of steel is a more space efficient way of storing steel than 100 coins of steel...

It's kind of like how 3rd ed dnd lets you carry infinite gold for no weight penalty, wheras 1st ed makes quite a game element out of getting your loot out of the dungeon.

I prefer the 1st ed way, so I vote that if you get yourself a wallet please limit it to carrying 100 coins, but allow them to be of mixed denominations

Why 100 coins? Coins stack to 100 on their own right now. The only purpose that would serve is holding small amounts of mixed coins.

I think there should be some sort of belt that you can attach small pouches to that can hold one or two item slots. First you have to make a belt and then make the bags, then attach them with string/yarn. There would have to be a limit to how many bags you can have (Like 5 or 7) and max would hinder you in some way... Like being unable to sprint.

I am glad coins aren't like RuneScape is where you can literally be holding over a metric fuck-ton of gold and you can run at full speed. :\

Yes, that's why... I don't think you should magically be able to carry more coins because their in coin form rather than in bar of iron form... If anything the opposite should be true.

Yes, and that is what I am suggesting. It makes sense that you should be able to hold 40 cast coins, 40 wrought coins and 20 steel coins (I hope that adds to 100) in a single inventory slot.
It does not make sense that you should be able to hold 200 steel coins in a single inventory slot where you can not hold 2 steel bars in a single inventory slot...

How many coins do you think a person should be able to carry at one time? How many inventory slots do you think that should take up? When you make that decision, go grab 100 coins of any denomination you want, try to scale that up to what you're suggesting.

You should be able to make different pouches from animals!
The bigger the balls, the bigger the pouch! :D

In other words, I want to loot their scrotum.

Only if you could do it with scrotums of player characters you slay.
