Fishing for treasure... and materials..?

Although I saw digging up treasure n' such. I saw nothing in relation to fishing and getting treasure and various materials for new types of equips etc. Just an idea. I've fished in real life before and caught all kinds of stuff on my line. Just seems unrealistic that i would only catch fish. Perhaps somehow also implementing things that people dump into the water to be able to be caught might be a feasible idea too.

Haha I think it was either Zelda or Breath of Fire where I kept catching boots... and I remember very clearly on one of the Breath of Fire's attaching gold on my line to catch a new party member, rofl.
