Stats needed to tame?

Linking an established guide that covers the issue far more in depth than is reasonable to re-write in a help post is hostile and pretentious?

Going to have to disagree with you on that one, the https wasn't super nice but that's kind of on the devs imo.

I was referring to the HTTPS link. Magic believes it is reasonable to expect every user to install a self-signed cert rather than linking to the HTTP version. For all intents and purposes this website does not have SSL support. Getting a signed cert is a prerequisite for supporting SSL.

from my PMs:

MagicManICT wrote:https does work. You need to install the certificate, though, which is up to you if you trust a self-signed certificate.

versus simply changing the link to http instead of https, he thinks it is possible for every user to install certs, despite the fact it may be impossible for them to do so even if they knew how. it's also no more secure than HTTP. He is intentionally choosing to link to a broken SSL version instead of removing one character from the URL. it's pretentious

Ah, if it's about the https and not the help side of the post I'll concede that I should stay out of it. My apologies.

yep Ferinex - prolly we should agree on only posting http urls to forum

(while i certainly trust a self signed dolda2000 cert much more than those "signed" from certain CAs ... ;) )

that's part of the problem, too. there is no way to know it is actually from dolda2000. I could sign a cert as dolda2000, and it would look as genuine.

Ferinex curfewed because he can't seem to follow the same rules as everyone else and not spam his issue on the forum. Several posts removed to the private moderator forum.

If there is a problem with moderation, take it up with the moderator or post in the appropriate discussion thread. Spamming threads that were already moderated will only incur getting an account squelched.
Opinions expressed in this statement are the authors alone and in no way reflect on the game development values of the actual developers.
