Respect thy fellow dead!

Postby razfen » Thu Mar 17, 2016 12:54 am

Greetings everyone, members of the hearth far and wide. I have a -grave- story to tell you.

For those of you who have little to know of me, I'm a peaceful and productive hearthling, exploring the wild, and seeking the challange of beasts whom I then outbest in duels to the death for sustenance. I have bested many, and have fought great battles with said beasts, and have learned my ways about them, but alas, oftentimes I wonder if I could befriend these creatures, so that we can mutually provide our beneficial traits to one another.

At one of these "hunting" trips (as many of you would call), I have found this creature, a mouflon to be exact. I named it Natas, as that seemed a fairly humble name for such a rugged beast. It seemed peaceful, I gladly presented it some grass and clovers to consume, and while it was busy munching on the sweets of mother earth, I quickly managed to cut a piece of its dirty fur off!

The creature roared, and immediately lifted all its weight upon its hindlegs, getting ready to strike me down, but I was quick enough to raise my shield and protect my chest from the blow! Time stopped for a moment, the air grew cold as the winds shrieked through the grasslands, the trees moaning in agony as they swayed aside. It was just me, and Natas, binding my shield with its horns as neither of us could get the upper hand. I decided to sting at its belly as I noticed the opening! To my suprise, Natas quickly reared, bucking down its head.

- "Thou hast disrespected me, foul mortal." Said a voice. I looked around, but saw naught a person whose words those could have been. Little did I pay attention to Natas' jaws moving as these words were uttered.

I have slipped, it seized the opportunity to knock me over with a fierce charge! I have been caught flat footed, and flew a good three paces behind, and landed with a great thud, my trusty sword lay between me and Natas. The hooved one shoved my sword away with its curved horns, and thus stepped upon my chest as I still lay on the ground, barely able to lift my head. Natas looked me in the eye with such a fierce look, I was paralyzed by the very essence of such fear, I have yet to feel... Until now.

- "Know this, destroyer of worlds, that thy actions shall bring my wrath upon thee! All whom you slay, shall thee meet again, and when you do, you'll be the weaker one. The dead shall rise, and will not stop, till you're put to rest like you did them!" Said Natas as it stepped off me, letting me reach for my sword. I have been shocked. Such a powerful creature I have never seen in my life.

At this moment, I hesitated. I could have struck Natas down, as it turned its back on me, but there was no point to do such foul trickery. Instead, I pressed on. Ignoring Natas as all its sentinence went away, I went to the swamp. This swamp is usually quiet, however, the air was thick of the stench of death, even more so than normally.

I have stumbled upon a dead hearthling! A corpse, fairly fresh as I see, still warm of his previous life. I immediately noticed however, his nice spectacles she wore! My hands went for them, however the glasses wouldn't come off. I decided I'll bring the carcass back to my home... But Natas, was on the move as well.

I had to leave for an urgent mission for my tribe, which we successfully pulled off, after which I went back to my lair for my well deserved rest, however, not one of us were resting that night.

THE DEAD HATH RISEN!
... Or has it? The corpse had not move, but just stare blankly upon my walls. I shoved it, and so did it fall over, resting like a pile of carrots once again. Such an atrocity however leaves scars on one's mind. I'm not a man who ignores the signs when they show. This was no joke. The dead has to rest.

I hastily built a grave for the possessed spirit, and laid it down.

"Upon my honor, I deliver unto thee. What the earth giveth, returned it shall be.", I murmured, taking my sacred vow to never again disturb the dead.
