Beautiful knarrs! I wish I had enough time to get the materials for one, but alas, I am but a poor farmer hermit. :(

I am arranging some things as I try to get my keys back and give away my plot. It might be a few more days before I restart my journey.
"...the dungeon and shackles are already at my threshold to show me here and now my eternal disgrace. Only you can work the miracle to make life possible for a soul so imperiled by doubt, O Atoner for all, exalted beyond saying." - St. Gregory of Narek, Book of Lamentations, Prayer 1.

You are much loved! Love in return!

An Eventful Weekend Update

I want to welcome the handful of individuals that joined over the weekend.
I hope you find your stay enjoyable and the experience a memorable one.

Ch 1. Breakfast, Second Breakfast, Elevnses...

I've become more comfortable sailing the rivers with our knarrs. If I am expecting someone to join, I generally head out toward the Ring of Brodgar on a hunting trip, filling the knarr with a scant amount of carcasses:
Image

When I do finally receive that message from someone saying, "I'm ready to be relocated," I kick the knarr into gear and head to the their homes. This week's immigration has been characterized by hermits who expressed a critique: it's dull to live alone.

This meant that I would see myself venture out on the knarr several times this weekend, which meant that the scant amount of carcasses turned into a ridiculous amount!

With more people joining, and some of our current ranks assuming additional responsibilities, our first and newest Thane has taken to hosting our feasts, and with great success.

Construction is ongoing with the regular flow of newcomers, and our need to expand with the initial design leaves some areas rough around the edges, but how happy we are to see our work culminate into something enjoyable.

Here, one active contributor shows the interior of Mad Marbo's Meat Mansion:

I anticipate the day when we have more dedicated chefs, who can spend time doing what they enjoy most—making food and serving it!

Ch.2 Lunch...

As Saturday came around, we began our first feast of the weekend:

Image

As with all invitations to parties, you can expect only a few of the invited will show up—and ever worse yet, the date of the party might not work for all of those invited!

This is why our host, our newest Thane, created two feasts, 12 hours apart. As we become a more populous location, we're increasingly more worldly, and it's important to cater to our friends in both hemispheres.

Saturday evening was an enjoyable experience, with Artus on the flute and lute, he was able to provide music to those dining:

Mr.Clothier, looking as spiffy as ever, was able to join us for the feast. However, this was not before he and his +1 could witness our shield ceremony:

After finally getting the last newcomer of the evening settled in, I asked that everyone who had joined to line up and receive their shield:

The ceremony concluded the feast, and those who wanted a tour of the region got to board the knarr and view the splendors and exciting crafts of our community—of which the Abbey is just a gateway:

Ch.3 Afternoon Tea, Dinner, and Supper

Sunday morning, I engaged in an early hunt. All was calm, and our second prime time was nearing. This meant I had to get a few things ready for the next feast. The second feast was, in many ways identical. Some of the same folks were able to show up, as well as a few others who missed the first feast (Unfortunately some missed both meals!).

I wasn't in a particularly screengrabby mood, but, you can imagine the same photos as before, just with daylight!

While hearthlings buzzed around the bonfire tables outside Mad Marbo's Meat Mansion, I ducked into my workshop to craft a new shield, unlike all the others I have created. During the second feast's shield ceremony, I conferred upon our new Thane, the Thane's Shield! Nothing too gussy, it's merely the common shield with a red emblem! It signifies for our new thane the additional responsibilities he has taken upon himself.

If he'd like to post an image, that's quite alright!

This is the start of a great tradition for Viðarrheim, and I hope that it will continue onto next weekend and thereafter. I hope that offering art is a tradition that other groups will pick up. I know at Viðarrheim, we want to produce a number of more items to continue to award members for their special achievements!

Anyways, at the conclusion of this feast, we just resumed to our various projects!

I hope we have increasingly delightful or interesting events for next week! Until then.

If you enjoyed this story, and would like to be part of the emergent adventure, don't hesitate to reply to this post, or send me a message that describes your interest in joining!

Huzzah! I am in the native land of Vidarrheim! Have I got some good pics from my journey! (I would have had more, but I think I broke CamStudio.)

Hey guys, I've looted a shield with this exact peculiar pattern from a pile of beach trash! Is this yours?
