I agree to an extent but something that's so over the top that it's hard to interpret it as anything but a joke probably shouldn't fall under that. I'm of the opinion that it takes willful ignorance to see 'i will trace ur ip and i will find u with ur ip' as a legitimate threat. At the very worst, if someone did believe they could throw this out as a threat, it'd be impotent rage. You can definitely say that it wasn't funny but the offending post in question more or less broke down to "How dare JLo work on a free game!" as far as I can tell, mocking those making demands more than anything.
