Bump.

We have held elections last week. This time we changed our system. Now there are two different elections: one for councilors and another for mayor. I'll spare you of the details of vote counting, but now we have a mayor (the same one as before) and 5 brand new councilors. A treasury has been built to deal with all the public money and its distribution.

Some villages around us - which have hindered our expansion - have become inactive and it's only a matter of time until they are bashable.

Many trolls were slain, many beaver lodges were cleared, many dolomites were mined. Such is life in Brodgar.

It is never too late to join Brodgar. We receive new people almost every day.

This thread may be dead but the village, on the contrary, is very much alive. We have elected a new mayor, different from the previous one. Everyday new people come to live. West Brodgar - the part of the town on the other side of the river - was walled up. And a bard bot has spawned in the charter, playing his lute 24/7.

+1 for Brodgar

Joined here with some fiends (we are already 6 now) and been playing in Brodgar for about 1-2 months now.
I would really like to say that i can highly recommend joining in, especially also for new players, as it is a very friendly and fun city/community and gives an oppertunity to start out in the game in a way that is very nice for a starting player.
Brodgar is a great city and also sort of a community project and in my opinion it would be really nice to see this W10 Brodgar be the greatest we have seen so far.
If you are a new player, small group of friends or also very important a player that knows the game well and likes to help buildup the city of Brodgar come over to take a look or even claim your plot in a nice location while you can :)

It's been some time since the last update, so here's what we have done:

  • We have built the district of North Brodgar. Before there was a village there, but it got authority-less then raided. Now Brodgar has three districts: East (Old) Brodgar, West Brodgar and North Brodgar. And the rural properties.
  • More people came to live. North Brodgar got almost instantly flooded by new plots.
  • Some plots in East Brodgar have run out of presence and we're working to contact the old owners and try to give the plots to new settlers.
  • The market of Bulyia Square was built, a place in East Brodgar to put some stands and sell things. The market of West Brodgar, next to the docks, thrives with many new stalls.
  • The central fort was demolished to give space for a vast plaza.
  • New guilds are being formed.
  • We held a contest to decide on our new coat of arms (link). We had a big announcement feast, having even a human sacrifice as Brodgarian tradition dictates.
  • Mayor Olaris failed to call the elections on her last term and the people of Brodgar has had her impeached. Governor Vetinari will guide Brodgar into a new democracy. Revolutionaries and reactionaries fight on discord for the leadership of the city.

Lots of things happened this week.

Physically:

  • We developed a subway system. Right now there are 4 stations in Brodgar, but many more are predicted to be built in the future. Those stations consist of palisaded mineholes leading to an underground road system.
  • The market of West Brodgar was expanded.
  • A law that allows claims in the northern harbors for safe unloading of knarrs was approved by the þing.
  • The Roadbuilders/Civil Engineers Guild was formed, aimed at expanding and maintaining Brodgar.

Politically:

  • In the beginning of the week the Brodgarians chose a new form of government. Torn between a monarchy, a direct democracy and a representative democracy, Brodgar decided to adopt a direct democracy. Decisions are taken collectively on the þing and keepers will deal with in-game technical aspects of being a leader.
  • Six keepers were voted based on their trustworthiness.

Criminally (in the same day):

  • Some quest trees were cut down.
  • Our high quality kiln was mysteriously destroyed.
  • The keepers Zitoune and Olaris were attacked by Terry, who had joined us a month ago. Half of the world's warriors have come to aid us in the pursuit of the criminal.

Some of my misdeeds go unlisted, shame!

At least I made the news.
