Well, to be fair, I think it's more accurate to say that we have these kinds of insight. To be honest, I don't mind measures to "discourage griefing activities" per se; it's more that the vast majority of such that are either suggested or tried in other games are the kinds of measures that will devolve the game in question into a politics-ridden hole of GM bureaucracy. And that's not really what we want.
That's one of my favorite posts from jorb and should be more widely known as the manifesto for open-world gaming.
My opinion is that permadeath is the perfect anti-griefing mechanic. The devil is in the details, though. We certainly don't see some of behaviors you find in other games, but I'm not sure if that's due to lack of population or another factor.
I was just trying to be dramatic and funny with that statement.
