mailbox? what about a postoffice?

Postby Subway » Thu Jun 18, 2009 7:40 pm

Since it would be alot of running for someone to post something to the one who may live in like.. other side of the map. Me and the wanderer have discussed and thought out that, instead of a mailbox each at our settlement, we can make a postoffice instead. Wich can be next to my Inn. im thinking of a house, with a urn and a runestone with the settlements name on it next to it

_________ ______
/ Rune / / urn /
/ stone / / /
/ / / /
/_______/ /________/

Give a tell about the idea

Hm... Not all that bad, really.
More of a community post board or something. Certainly more manageable.
Surprise.

I wouldn't oppose to it. I'd be happy to be able to get mail :3

That sounds great to me. What progress have you been making so far? I head down to the Tri-State area all the time to trade. I look forward to eating some sausages and checking my mail :) .

Now, do we mean having one office, or an office in every town?
Of course, for major places like the inn, there could be boxes too.

It sounds to me like it would work best with just one official post office. The larger towns would designate mail people and the very large could build their own post office in town. The central hub would be all that's necessary for the people soloing it or living on smaller settlements.

Only problem is that there are no very large town. Just somewhat large towns and small towns.
It's possible to spread a couple post offices around the world tho. They would sent mail to the other offices at which it can be picked up by the recipient. Mail would be free, containers costing a fee.

I'd suggest 2 offices. central and east. Central being brodgar and east somewhere near tristate which could as well be the roadside diner. Perhaps a south central office if people ask for it?
All an office need is a cabin containers and a small vault. Carts should be managed by the office managers.
