Things that have emerged through gameplay.

There are so many things, that while not implemented specifically by the developer, have come about through people's work and thought, I think it'd be cool to list them all, just to see them, and to give the devs a moral boost for making an awesome game. These are what I can think of (in no specific order), any suggestions to be added are highly encouraged:

Towns (though in the future this may have to come off the list, there are currently no things that specifically specify towns)
Communism
Trade
Road systems
Vaults
Mail system (it's being worked on...)
Hired/Volunteer Rangers/"Law" keepers
Graves
Stockpiles
Revenge
Wandering Rune Carvers
Inns
Explorers
Shrines

thievery, revenge and bloodlust were kinda planned in a sense that there is no code that prevents it.
The ones who see things differently.

You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can't do is ignore them.
And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius.

Ga, Sami beat me to posting, I'll still post though.

I wouldn't consider thievery something that has happened without implementation, as there are specific skills for thievery.

What do you mean by explorers?

i have met people who said they were exploring, and they told me of some of there travels... That strikes me as emergent gameplay.
I guess your right about the thievery though. Revenge is kinda iffy.. it existed before scents, but not has code to back it up. By bloodlust i mean i've seen normal friendly farmers become more and more violent towards potential thieves/griefers.

The code backs up revenge by allowing it to happen.

I haven't been to your inn. I'll have to check it out. Adding to the list.

Are you using the term "communism" in a good or bad sense?
