Theoretically the only limiting factor in a character outstatting you is who makes the character first, luck on finding the right curios and foods for FEP development, good Q base material areas, and sadly, money.
Because if you have two characters starting on the same day and getting LP and FEPs at an equal rate, the dude who has a subscription just wins by default. No matter what you do. 30% Development rate is significant enough that it has effectively made that situation a P2W one. In reality though, no-one starts on exactly the same day except on world reset and after a while power differences arise, so, doesn't matter.
Hermits are capable of doing a lot if they use alts but due to the way hunger works with stat progression and having to spread out your LPs more if you want to do everything, it's much faster to get good at a specific thing on a dedicated alt, this is the only way realistically a hermit is ever going to keep up with a faction. The upside however, is that a hermit's progression on their combat alt would basically be the same as the faction's one. Ofc, you just have more straight up combat alts in the faction, so gg.
