Can't keep them alive, can only convince them to rebuild. Best to convince them death is inevitable and should be prepared for from the beginning. These are the only players that have stuck around in my experience.

If you want to know true nature of a sprucecap don't aggro them when they approach your base with an undried claim. 80%+ of them will try to steal from you and bash your shit, and then when they realize you got rage in the first 2-3h of the world they'll just be like "OH IM JUST A LIL SPRUCIE IM JUST A LIL SPRUCE WHY WOULD YOU ATTACK ME".

Projection! Sprucecaps are mostly peaceful, and if they are not and actually try to f with you they become Raiders or will stop playing.

This is the natural way. Which doesnt mean it has to be this way: Hermits of all Thingwalls, dont learn PVP, channel your Hermit Power and face the danger headon! Face the enemies and show them what difference heros of the hearth, with nomad helmets, bronze armor and armored striders can make!!!!
Yes you may die a few times. But as long as you rush palisade they will NEVER get what is most precious. Your larp rooms!!
