So I built my settlement about a month ago. Today someone placed a claim right next to mine and camped it. This happened:

The (???) person clearly doesn't have the best approach, but it could be that they have a genuine reason to be angry.

It is possible to have permission to USE a milestone trail* but not be allowed to FIX it if someone builds a claim that ends up blocking it. Fixing would imply having to break some of the existing small stones, which would also allow breaking every single small stone (or more effectively, the big stones that allow you to initiate the Fast Travel.)

*In fact, if the big milestone is on village claim, absolutely everyone seems to be able to use it, similar to how outsiders are allowed to enter and walk around the claim.

Well, I did build a claim with their stones on it. I didn't really realize what I was doing at the time, and if I'd known that I'd be making someone angry I would've placed my settlement somewhere else. Still, since there was no personal claim or village on the land it didn't appear that anyone had a claim to it. I wanted to be friendly with everyone but it seems that I've inadvertently run afoul of the very worst kind of player. IMO if a road constitutes a claim then it should only be buildable on a claim or inside a village. The way this is, someone can build a road crossing a large part of a continent and say that all of the land that it's on is theirs, possibly without an unsuspecting settler even knowing they're doing anything that'll upset someone else by placing a personal claim around it.

i remember first starting to play the game at W10 and getting my claim FUCKED by someone for living at a crossroad (that was leading to a main market)

i know it might be upsetting but you're the one in the wrong, just move because if you expand you'll block it even further

situations like this are cool cause it made me want to learn PvP to get revenge though

but ye its pretty apparent that you're in a bad area and you either have to move or get strong to fuck em up instead idk im not your mother
