Sorry man

I remember my "I quit and never come back" -post. If the perpetrator had just stolen a steel sword and two pearls, that would've been fine (at least because/especially since he told me how he did it, I thought he somehow had crime skills around one week into a Legacy World*) but he also went through my Cupboards, bashing** them "just for fun". I would've understood getting robbed, we're talking about a video game after all. But when someone's motivation is seemingly about making the other player behind the screen not have fun, that's kind of messed up.

Before someone calls me [insert insult here] let's use a game, with much more clearly defined goals, to formulate an analogy. League of Legends. If you queue up for a match, you really don't have a good reason to get mad for any tactic (aside from blatantly hacking the game) that the enemy team uses to win. But then some people pull of stuff like this.

*It was the Party Permissions. All they had to do was invite me to a party and me having no realistic way to know that it gave him full and unrestricted access to my claim. (Even Wiki didn't mention it at the time!) Adding Toggle to said system is one of those "why wasn't this a thing to begin with" -additions.
**At the risk of TMI, I remember being additionally irritated because many relatively valuable things like metal bars landing into the unreachable void outside the house floor tiles.

Show us the whole base. I'm sure there is something you misunderstood as "secure enough" and just brushed it off.

There should be a tutorial that pops up with yeomanry that only finishes when you have a secure pclaim surrounded by a pali without a vulnerability.
If that isn't feasible with current mechanics because it's too complex of a question, those mechanics should change until it is.

Aaaah, came back and it's nice to see that nothing has changed.

Still the same Hafen. Still the same refuge for psychos, unable to fulfill their 'needs' in real life and finding and alternative in a made up world.
Still, better that them doing it in real one, so kudos to devs, I guess.

The message you want to convey is clear, but strictly speaking, this ‘made-up world’, you’re talking about, is also part of this world; or, on the other hand, the world we live in can be nothing other than a ‘made-up world’, just as we picture it.

I would say, then, that rather than emphasising the quality of the people, in your example, we should emphasise the quality of the times we live in, as this is certainly not an isolated occurrence.

What is "the times" if not a concept made by people? It certainly not about the passage of time. And definitely not about the number we wrote in sand, chiselled into a stone or hang on the wall.
In all the ages, it was about people. We make "times" as they are, by either action or inaction. Some people have a "louder voice", some people have the "stronger arms".
But all of us responsible to some degree, though I would say: proportionally to our "powers". And devs, here, have the ultimate authority and the proportional amount of responsibility.

on par with ultimate authority of a greasy shack owner that lets some junkies dose up on his rags for a dime or a pinch of their stuff, yeah. And the social dynamics here are the same... vaguely. So, what brings you back?

Addiction. Hopefully, a managed one. Hafen is addictive, for being so unique. Though, for me, it has nothing to do with "junkie drama", that few bug abusers and, simply, sociopaths "create".
Nor does it have to do with stupid PvE idea that some constantly float up. But with something in the middle: what we had back in earlier worlds of Haven. Where nobody was truly safe: factions included.
